Sea soul
Experience the adventure of the Mini 6.50 in first person!
Each photograph in this exhibition is a window into the human spirit, into the fragility and strength that coexist in sailors, and into the eternal call of the sea as a space of adventure and self-discovery.
The exhibition
“Sea soul, the adventure of the Mini 6.50” is an intimate exploration of the human spirit behind the dream of crossing the Atlantic. Through the lenses of two photographers and sailors, Cédric Widmer and Nicolò Gamenara, the exhibition offers a personal and unfiltered perspective on life at Base Mini Barcelona and the Mini regattas in the Mediterranean. The photographic series takes us to the very core of solo sailing, celebrating the small but profound stories that are born at Base Mini Barcelona, where ambitious dreams of conquering the open ocean arise. From the humanity of the sailors, with moments full of emotion, looks full of determination, hands marked by effort, smiles of camaraderie in the confrontation with the sea, from calm to furious winds, the images portray the ups and downs of life at sea.

The Base Mini
Base Mini Barelona is the largest training center for the Mini 65.0 Class in the Mediterranean. Founded in 2012, it is now based at BISC, next to Port Fòrum, where 20 sailors train with their own boats to prepare for the upcoming racing season and, ultimately, for the Mini Transat. But Base Mini Barcelona is more than a training center: it is a family. A place where sailors push themselves to the limit, learn together and support each other in every setback and every victory. Because, in the end, sailing alone can be an individual challenge, but no one gets far without the support of a community.
Sailing towards the Mini Transat
The Mini Transat is a solo race across the Atlantic. Starting from Les Sables-d’Olonne, like the famous Vendée Globe, competitors embark on a relentless journey: the first stage stretches over 1,000 miles to the Canary Islands and after a stopover in La Palma, the real test begins: a non-stop 2,700-mile crossing to Guadeloupe. In an age of instant communication, participants cross the Atlantic with almost no connection. No satellite internet or real-time weather updates. Just a VHF radio to contact nearby boats and a medium wave broadcast with weather reports and daily rankings. It is a test of pure seamanship, where strategy and instinct are more important than technology.
